The Investment Manager provides discretionary investment management services, offers investment advice, and delivers other related services to the Fund in relation to each Sub-Fund.

Light & Salt Capital Management Limited is a company incorporated with limited liability in Hong Kong. Its registered address is 4/F-5/F, Light & Salt House, 14-16 Gilman’s Bazaar, Central, Hong Kong. The company holds a license from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) under CE No. BDE464, to conduct Type 9 regulated activities in accordance with the Securities and Futures Ordinance (SFO).
Mr LUK Man Wa Caesar
CEO & CIO, LIGHT & SALT CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
As CEO and CIO of Light & Salt Capital Management Limited, Mr Luk has overall responsibility for managing Light & Salt Capital Management Limited. In addition, he is a Responsible Officer of Light & Salt Capital Management Limited.
Mr Luk has over 30 years of experience in investing in Asian equities at various reputable investment firms. After graduating from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania with dual majors in Accounting and Finance in 1987, Mr Luk joined Citibank in its Treasury Department in Hong Kong as a Spot FX and Options Dealer. His career in the fund management industry started in 1989 when he joined Indosuez Asia Investment Services Limited as an Investment Analyst covering the Greater China region. He quickly rose to the ranks of a Fund Manager before he decided to leave to start his new venture with Carlson Investment Management. After successfully helping to build this unit’s AUM to close to US$1.8 billion, he moved on to two other reputable houses, namely UBS and Fortis Investment Management (Asia) Limited, as Head of Investments and Senior Investment Manager, respectively. His long only career ended there as he was recruited by Sofaer Global Research (HK) Limited, one of the largest long/short equity houses at that time, to take charge of their North Asian investments. He then, with two partners, started Pi Investment Management Limited which was acquired by RAB Capital PLC in 2007. His last stint in the hedge fund space was with Partner Fund Management, a US$5 billion long/short equity shop based in San Francisco, where he was hired as the firm’s Head of Asia and Portfolio Manager from 2010 to 2011. Before joining Light & Salt Capital Management in early 2014, he was engaged in managing money for two prominent families in Hong Kong from 2011.
OUR PEOPLE
The Board of Directors of White River Capital owe statutory and fiduciary duties to the investors in the Sub-Funds. As such the directors are individuals with expertise in corporate governance, financial oversight and investment strategy and implementation.
ADIL ALSHIBAYEV
DIRECTOR
Mr Alshinbayev has worked in the finance industry since 2009 as an investment manager. Adil is a non-executive director of a number of private companies and actively invests in a number of different investment sectors deploying a variety of investment strategies. Mr Alshinbayev graduated from the London School of Economics and started his career with J.P. Morgan in the Investment Banking Division.
Miguel Soto
DIRECTOR
Mr Soto graduated from the University of Houston in December 1995. From April 1998 to May 2004, he was Treasurer & Controller and from May 2004 to August 2004, he was the Vice President of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer of Chaparral Resources, Inc. From July 2005 to March 2007, he served as Acting Chief Financial Officer for Indago Petroleum Limited. Mr Soto worked as a tax accountant for Arthur Andersen from January 1996 to April 1998 and as a staff accountant for KVM Technologies Inc., located in Houston, Texas from May 1992 to November 1995.
Paul Marchand
DIRECTOR
Mr Marchand has worked within two investment companies for over 19 years. During that time period, he has served as a non-executive director of various public and private companies including Caspian Energy Inc., from 2014 to 2015, Thistle Mining Inc., from 2005 until 2009, and Indago Petroleum Limited, from 2005 until 2007. From 1998 to 2005, he worked at White & Case LLP, an international law firm, in both New York and London, becoming a partner in 2003. Prior to joining White & Case, he worked at Linklaters, an international law firm, and Cliffe Dekker, a South African law firm. He is a solicitor and qualified to practice in England and Wales. Mr Marchand holds a BCL degree from Oxford University, an LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch and a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Higher Diploma in Taxation Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand.
